Looking back at photos from the 1950s, it's shocking to see our grandmothers and loved ones smokingwhile pregnant (or smoking around pregnant women). A question everyone might ask is "Seriously, how in the world could they think that's ok?"
But let's be honest, they didn't know any better. And they certainly didn't know how much it affected their babies. Because if they'd have seen how it affected them like this...

Although all of the babies were born healthy, researchers did notice evidence that the babies of smokers showed signs of the lack of maturity. What this ultimately means, requires more investigation, but if you'd like a head start on finding out, check out their write up.
