Before You Throw Out The Pit Of Your Avocado, You Need To Watch This Video

Avocados are a pretty amazing fruit. Not only are they delicious, but they're also good for your heart, your digestive system, and can even help ward off cancer. You might already know that storing an avocado with the pit will keep it from going bad in the refrigerator, but even if you don't have any avocado left over, think twice before tossing the pit in the trash.
With a little bit of water, a plastic cup, and some toothpicks, you can turn your avocado pit into an avocado tree. The process is so easy, even those without a green thumb can grow their own plant. Check out the tutorial below and never buy avocados again!

First, push three toothpicks into a clean avocado pit. Place it in a plastic cup so the toothpicks suspend the pit from the edge.

Next, fill the cup up with water so that the bottom half of the pit is submerged.

Put the cup on heating pads to speed up the growth. Leaves will sprout at the top and roots will grow from the bottom.

Once it starts growing leaves, you can move the pit from the cup to a pot of soil.

Then put it back on the heating pad, or by a sunny window, and watch your avocados grow!

Though growing an avocado tree takes some patience, the wait is worth it. It's so cool to see plants grow due to your own tender love and care. This would be a cool project to work on with kids. Not only is it fun, but it's also a science lesson! I'm never throwing my avocado pits out again.
